The year 2015 is going down for epic-ness: epic snowfall, epic Dorchester Day Parade! After a leisurely five hour stroll down Dot Ave celebrating all things Dot-tastic, DotOUT members, determined parade goers and Energizer Bunny strong local politicos met at Cedar Grove Gardens for the group’s annual DotDay Summer Party.
Richard O’Mara, one of DotOUT’s founder and longtime Dorchester community leader, once again graciously hosted the largest DotOUT after party to date — with estimates of over 50 to 60 attendees. O’Mara offered guests cool beverages along with his signature Thai Chicken salad, burgers and grilled Portobello/cauliflower side dish.
DotOUT raised $400 from suggested donations that directly benefit Kit Clark Senior Services, one of our favorite Dorchester charities. DotOUT Treasurer Mark Haley said, “Last year’s amount was great—this is even better!” All monies collected benefit the intended charity as the event’s food and beverages were provided by O’Mara.
Political candidates in attendance and enjoying some cool shade under the garden’s festive yellow tents included: longtime DotOUT friend and allies Councillor Ayanna Pressley, (Boston At-large) and “the Dans”—Representative Daniel Cullinane (D-Twelth Suffolk) and Daniel J. Hunt (D-Thirteenth Suffolk).
