Founded in 2004, DotOut was created to bridge the many communities that make up Dorchester. The founding members saw the need to “connect the Dots” between the neighborhood’s growing LGBTQIA+ population and its richly diverse neighborhoods. At the time, local tensions around the landmark Goodridge v. Department of Public Health decision—which legalized same-sex marriage in Massachusetts—made that mission all the more urgent.
Over the years, DotOut has grown into a vibrant community hub that celebrates inclusion, builds connection, and advocates for equity across all of Dorchester. Through year-round events, civic engagement, and partnerships with local organizations, we work to ensure LGBTQIA+ voices are not only heard—but embraced—as a vital part of Dorchester’s fabric.
Now, in 2025, we’re taking time to reflect on how best to serve our community. We’re restructuring, launching new programs, and revisiting our mission—all with the goal of making DotOut stronger, more inclusive, and more impactful.
