DotOUT’s Civic Contributions
DotOUT members are involved in so many ways with their neighborhoods. Our individual connections with our neighborhood civic organizations and groups strengthen our DotOUT group connections. We collectively learn and connect anew each year. Since 2017, DotOUT has taken an active role representing Dorchester’s LGBTQ community at pivotal marches in the city.
This is a partial list of our civic activities:
- Boston March for Our Lives 2018
- Boston Women’s March
- Boston Science March
- Since 2004, yearly participation in the Dorchester Day Parade
- #OneBostonDay and 4.15
- Annual Dorchester Chili Cook-off chili pot stirrer (Yes, we’ve won many times, too!)
- Collaboration with local businesses, health centers and universities on LGBTQ issues
- Parade float building collaboration with Dot Art youth
- Local aid to park and neighborhood clean up
- Promoting beautification with flower seeds
- Building awareness of recycling campaigns
- Participation in Dorchester Beach Festival
