If you’re asking for an LGBT endorsement in Dorchester, you better not consider marching in South Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
As recently as 2013, a candidate for state senate attempted to cross over from South Boston to Dorchester and sought endorsement from DotOUT while continuing to participate with family, friends and constituents in the longstanding parade. His opponent, who declared they would not march, received the group’s endorsement.
Coincidence? Random statistic? Whether it’s a neighborhood benchmark or point of difference between two competing neighborhoods, the current crop of candidates are very clear on their marching orders: they will not be marching in March.
Of course, they are always welcome to join DotOUT and the rest of the warm and welcoming folks of Dorchester in June’s fabulous Dorchester Day Parade!
